Vibe coding email tools

Marc Lou made his own email sending software this week in response to Beehiiv increasing their prices.

So the Beehiiv founder replies with a huge list (383 points, at my reckoning) of all the features and problems such a tool will need to solve.

And today the EmailOctopus co-founder Thomas Evans chipped in with his thoughts.

I definitely would not vibe code something this critical or give this job to someone who has vibe coded it.

ChatGPT ends attribution

Some bad news - your traffic from ChatGPT is now going to look like Direct in your analytics. ChatGPT is stripping out attribution from links.

So if someone finds my ghostwriting service from ChatGPT, this won't show up in my analytics. I'd recommend asking customers where they found you - I do this on sales calls.

OpenAI Removes UTM Parameters From ChatGPT Results
OpenAI seems to have removed or replaced the UTM parameters it placed on links within the ChatGPT results. This makes it harder to know if a click came from ChatGPT versus some other platform. This seems to have started with the release of GPT‑6, which was a week ago.

New social network for developers

I've seen a lot of these come and go. Communities are hard.

There is not a lot of info here but devnull promises a Git-based social network for developers without any likes or RTs etc:

devnull
A social network for developers. Sign in with GitHub, commit plain text to a shared log.

I made a tool for Twitter/X

Twitter/X hides some of your post if it's too long. So I built a free tool so you can see what gets viewed and what gets hidden: https://www.petecodes.io/twitter-x-post-cut-off-calculator/
